Obituary for Elizabeth Barr "Betty" Crosby

Elizabeth Barr Crosby, 86, widow of Baxter D. Crosby, died Monday, July 01, 2019, at Morningside of Sumter.

Born July 15, 1932, in London, England, she was a daughter of the late Cecil G. Barr and the late Isabella B. Barr. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served with the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a member of the British Wives Club. She retired from AFES at Shaw AFB after 28 years of service.

Survivors include five children, Beverly C. Langlois (Robert) and Barbara Hodge (Joe) both of Sumter, Betty L. Crosby of Columbia, Steven Crosby (Donna) of Sumter, and Susan Crosby of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Langlois, Kyle Langlois, Jake Hodge, Justin Hodge, Emily Jones (R.J.), Matthew Crosby-Krivan, Corey Crosby, Stacey Jackson, Shelley Jackson, and Summer Reyes (Jorge), and Tori Crosby; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Haley, Ryan, Natalie, Andrew, Hampton, and Gabriella; and a special cousin, Barbara Herts Brennan of England.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Barr, and sister-in-law Beryl Barr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nick Cheek officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
