Obituary for Rev. Ronald J. Briggs
Rev. Ronald J. Briggs, Emeritus, 82, husband of Doris A. Briggs, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at his home.
Born July 1, 1936, in Utica, MI, he was a son of the late George L. Briggs, Sr. and the late Edna Elizabeth Shroeder Briggs. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus Division after 40 years of service. He also retired as the Minister of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rochester Hills, MI.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years; five children, Ronald M. Briggs, Mark A. Briggs, Carrie L. Briggs, Heidi Ann Marie DeGrazio, and Eric L.A. Briggs all of Sumter; grandchildren, Anthony James DeGrazio, Vincent Thomas DeGrazio, dog Jenna, Andrew M. Briggs, Autumn Briggs, Amber Briggs, Heather Briggs, and Danyelle Briggs; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild; and a brother, George L. Briggs, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
The family will host a reception at the home following the visitation.
