James P. "Jimmy" Williams, Sr., age 77, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 12th, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, after a brave four year battle with cancer.
Born in Sumter on July 9, 1941, he was the son of the late Claude Williams and the late Lota Mathis Lee. Mr. Williams retired from Civil Service at Shaw AFB in 2002 after serving 40 years as Housing Manager. He attended public schools in Sumter for his elementary education and was a high school graduate of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He also attended USC in Columbia.
Surviving are his wife Gayle, two daughters, Terri Compton (James) and Christi Morris; two sons, James Williams, Jr. and Kevin Williams (Lindsay); stepdaughter Angel Mazzoni (Mauro); stepson Shawn Dolen (Heather); a brother, Doug Williams (Carol); a sister, Geraldine Bastian; grandchildren, Brandon, Allison, Corey, Jacob, Matthew, Brianna, Finn, Nicholas, Hayden, Genesis and Lexi; also a great-grandson, Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews, numerous caring and loving friends; and a loving fur baby, Kitty Kat.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens funeral home.
