Obituary for Gwendolyn Barnes Floyd

Gwendolyn Barnes Floyd, 84, wife of David W. Floyd, died Friday, April 19, 2019 at Prisma Health-Richland.

Born November 16, 1934, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. Barnes, Sr., and the late Lois Tisdale Barnes. In her early years, she was a member of Pitts (Swan Lake) Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years; one daughter, Llwayne Reid (Barry) of Wedgefield; two granddaughters, Jessica Nicole Reid and Caitlin Amanda Reid; a grandson, Christopher Eugene Reid; two brothers, Frank J. “Sonny” Barnes, Jr. (Angela) of Houston, Texas, and Gerald T. Barnes (Della) of Sumter; one sister, Mildred Franklin (Greg) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Pete B. Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wes Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
