Obituary for Helen Wilson Lawson

Helen W. Lawson, 89, departed this life on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the home of her goddaughter surrounded by those who love her most.

Born in Whitmire on February 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jack H. Wilson and the late Goldie R. Wilson. She retired from Clarendon County with thirty years of service working in the court and later in mapping. She was a member of Summerton Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by a special goddaughter, Cheri S. Hagood of Sumter; along with nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family being pre-deceased by her loving spouse of sixty years, Clarence J. Lawson; three brothers, Joseph W. Wilson, Jackie H. Wilson, and Robert S. Wilson; and two sisters, Dorothy W. Yarborough and Lois W. Miller.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Summerton Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Ashba and the Rev. Billy Carlisle officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Tom Mellette Fellowship Hall following the service.

The family would like to thank Ms. Ethel Muldrow and Ms. Edith Kelly from Carolina Caregivers with and extra special thanks to Ms. Betty Durant who spent 50+ hours a week providing optimal care with the greatest of love and compassion. The family would also like to thank MSA Hospice and Dr. Mayes DuBose for the care given during her illness.
