Obituary for Dannie Edward Gray Sr.
Dannie Edward Gray, Sr., 74, husband of Cassie Hyatt Gray, died Monday, March 18, 2019 at Prisma Health-Tuomey.
Born August 20, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, he was raised in Michigan. He was a son of the late George Edward and Fern Robinson Gray and the late Sophie Gonzales. Mr. Gray was a member of Wedgefield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and enjoyed participating in the church Pantry Ministry. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 26 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also retired from General Electric.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years; three children, Dannie “Dan” E. Gray, Jr of Edenton, NC, Rebecca Scalf of Hamilton, OH, and Misty Barnes (Tim) of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Dannie Gray, III (Deborah), Justin Gray, Ashley Scalf, Megan Scalf, Shawna Barnes, Clayten “Bubba” Barnes, and Paul “Scooter” Barnes; three great grandchildren, and one brother, Randy Robinson (Nancy) of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Edward Gray, Jr.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Wedgefield Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating.
