Obituary for Lois Jeanette Watford (Williams)

Lois Jeanette Watford, 76, wife of James C. “Carrol” Watford, died Monday, February 25, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born June 20, 1942, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Williams, Sr. and the late Ora Lee Boykin Williams. She was a very active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and the Ladies’ Circle #4. She retired from Sumter Diagnostics (Dr. Julian Abbott’s office) after 43 years of service.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years; two children, Lynette Boykin (Carl) and James R. “Ron” Watford all of Sumter; two grandchildren, Carl Eric Boykin and Laurenton Boykin; a brother, Herbert Williams, Jr. (Phyllis) of Sumter; a sister, Wilma Berry (Dan) of Lancaster; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special church family.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Guinevere Williams Goodson, Dorothy “Dot” Smith, and Eleanor “Gayle” Boykin; and a brother, Melvin E. Williams, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jamie Williams and the Rev. John McLeod officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday in the fellowship hall of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and other times at the home of her niece, Leigh Anne Graham, 2680 Ya Ya Way.
