Obituary for Christine Brunson Johnson

Christine Brunson Johnson, 81, widow of Richard W. “John” Johnson, Sr., was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at MUSC in Charleston.

Born December 24, 1936, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Melton B. Brunson and the late Sarah Powell Brunson. She was a graduate of Edmonds High School and attended Clevenger Business College. She was a member of Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Harmony Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, Mom, and Nana to her four grandsons. She was a one of a kind lady who loved everyone. She took great pleasure in doing for others. She was a great cook and loved baking cakes for family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Richard “Rick” W. Johnson, Jr. (Karon) of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Melanie J. “Christy” Brown (Lee) of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Drew Johnson, Zack Johnson, Noah Brown and Ethan Brown; a brother, Charles M. “Bubba” Brunson (Sara) of Sumter and a brother-in-law, Ray Scott of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia B. Scott and Janice B. McCormick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday at Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve McCormick, the Rev. Jerry Watson, and the Rev. Lee Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Brunson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
