Obituary for John Kenneth "Wideload" Foisey

John Kenneth Foisey, 56, affectionately known as “Wideload”, entered eternal glory on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born on June 5, 1962, at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, he was the son of the late Roland Joseph Foisey and the late Kathryn Aileen Foisey. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in 1981. He professed his faith at Christian Fellowship, now known as Lakewood Baptist Church, followed with baptism and 20 plus years of service to the Lord at Bethel Baptist Church. He was most recently the head Elder at Unity Baptist Fellowship Church. In addition to his love for the Lord and his family, he had an unconditional love for his dog, Spanky. He enjoyed cooking for others, the bigger the crowd the better. He had a passion for riding his Goldwing with his wife, brother Preston, best friends, Scott Thomas, Ron Russell, Kenny Sauls, Jimmie Shuping, Bill Brown, Cotton Pate, and many others. He enjoyed working on cars and fixing things with his lifelong best bud, Lenn Gardner. While in high school, he drove a school bus and worked at O.J. Hallman’s service station. Later he worked as a mechanic with Sumter County Public Works, Suburban Propane, and as a diesel mechanic at the Sumter County school bus shop. He then went to work in telecommunications with the Sumter Police Department, after which he transferred to Evidence Maintenance. He completed his career as a mechanic at the South Carolina Department of Transportation, from which he medically retired in February 2017.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 35 years, Debbie Austin Mobley Foisey of the home; one son, Christopher Foisey; two daughters, Cassie Tyner (Joshua) and Courtney Geddings (Mason); special daughters, Brandi Coley, Karen White, Essence Mack, and Jasmine Fitzgerald; seven grandchildren, Leigh Foisey, Daniel Geddings, Jordan Tyner, Peyton Foisey, Emma Foisey, Jaxson Tyner, and Layla Sutherland; one sister, Kathy Lee (his other brother, Preston); and two brothers, Jimmy Foisey (Ginger) and Ronnie Foisey.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Palmetto Health Tuomey, McLeod Regional Medical Center, and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital for the special care they gave during a difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Fetuao, Mr. Jimmie Shuping, and Mr. Cotton Pate officiating. Burial will be in the Unity Baptist Fellowship Church cemetery.
