Cecilia L. Vaughn, 80, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born July 25, 1937, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Cecil D. Vaughn and the late Nora Lee Weatherford Vaughn. She was a Professor of Government and History at Central Carolina Technical College following her retirement from the U.S. Civil Service. She was a member of Ashwood Baptist Church where she served as pianist for many years, and also attended Destiny Praise Center.
Survivors include three children, Sherry Hatfield Barnes (Tony) of Sumter, William Edward “Eddie” Hatfield, Jr. (Judy) of Columbia, and Melanie Hatfield of Sumter; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence Anthony “Larry” Vaughn, Sr. (Peggy) of Ashwood.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Anthony Hatfield; and a sister, Margie Vaughn Brunson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Ashwood Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
