Cecil Young Brogdon, 92, widow of Judson Pringle Brogdon, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Born December 28, 1925, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Cecil Young and the late Frances Moody Young. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross at Stateburg. Mrs. Brogdon was a retired registered nurse having worked at Tuomey Hospital and Briggs Nursing Center. She also worked as a teacher’s aide at R.E. Davis Elementary School.
Survivors include three children, Judson P. Brogdon, Jr., Lee Brogdon Wise (William), and Anita Lynn Brogdon all of Sumter; six grandchildren, Allison Stewart (Ryan), Will Wise (Katie), Richie Brogdon, Ashley Welch (Lance), Brogdon Butler, and Anita Butler; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Francis Richardson “Ricky” Brogdon, Sr.; a brother, Samuel Richardson Young; and a sister, Mary Young McCown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Cross with the Father Michael Ridgill officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Wise, Richie Brogdon, Lance Welch, Ryan Stewart, Brogdon Butler, and Joseph McCown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lee and William Wise, 935 Oak Brook Boulevard.
