Helen C. DuPont, 89, widow of Lt. Col. Robert P. DuPont, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Brookdale Sumter.

Born July 12, 1928, in Norwich, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Holden Adams and the late Augusta Friese Adams. She was a longtime member and volunteer at the Sumter YMCA. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, and baking. She was an avid reader and spent many hours at the Sumter County Library.

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie J. DuPont of Sumter and Laura L. Boyer (Charlie) of Cape Coral, Florida; two grandchildren, Alan Boyer and Sherry Boyer Affatica (Adrian “A.J.”); and two great-grandchildren, Alessandra and Kellan.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery.
