Obituary for Gladys Allsbrook (Beasley)


Gladys Beasley Allsbrook, 91, beloved wife of the late Alfred Allsbrook, died Wednesday, November 01, 2017, at Wellmore of Tega Cay in Fort Mill.

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Elton D. Beasley, Sr. and the late Verlie Skipper Beasley. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 30 years of service. She has been a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 67years, where she served on the We Care Team and was a member of the WMU. She was a member of the Ruth’s Sunday School Class and also served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. She was a life member of the ATT Pioneers. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Monyette and her husband, Thomas of Fort Mill; a grandson, Ernest Bryant “E.B.” Hinnant, III; Two step-grandduaghters, Elyse Monyette, and Joselle Monyette; two half-brothers, Jack Beasley (Marlene) of Bishopville and Charles Beasley of Columbia; three half-sisters, Judy Lindack (John) of Santee, Alice Russell (Ed) of Sumter, and Ann Hemingway of Manning; several nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Jenny.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elton Beasley, Jr. and Don “Dagnal” Beasley; three half-brothers, Edward Beasley, David Beasley, and Dalton Beasley; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Beasley and Tressie Beasley; and a very special person, Emma M. “Ma Mae” Robertson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Fraser officiating. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery in Bishopville.

Pallbearers will be E.B. Hinnant, III, Jimmy Beasley, Ken Beasley, Lane Vivoda, Michael Puck, and Steve Alsbrooks.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at her home in Sumter.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2401 Bethel Church Rd., Sumter, SC 29154.
