Robert Norwood Davis, 81, husband of JoAnn Christian Davis, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at NHC Healthcare.

Born March 18, 1936, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late John Advil Davis and the late Mary Etta Powell Davis. He was a member of Alice Drive Bapist Church and Charter President of the Pinewood Lion’s Club. He was employed by the Sumter Police Department for 10 years and retired from the SC State Forestry Commission. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; three children, Glenn Davis (Mer) of Sumter, Donna Huddle (David) of Myrtle Beach, and Dee Cook (Wayne) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Cristin Russell (Tom), Josh Cannon (Melissa), Erin Cook, Jack Cook, and Leigh Huddle; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Joshua, Hayley, Lane, and Caroline; a sister-in-law, Rhoda Davis of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be former members of the Pinewood Lion’s Club and Robert Gallishaw.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
