Obituary for James Rudolph Oxendine

James Rudolph Oxendine, 74, widower of Madeline Dew Oxendine, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at NHC Healthcare in Sumter.

Born in Dalzell, he was a son of the late Andrew Oxendine and the late Martha Benenhaley Oxendine. Mr. Oxendine was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was a truck driver and retired from Glasscock Trucking after 32 years of service.

Survivors include three sisters, Portia Langley (Pete) of Manning, Ellen Cooper (Bob) of Hattiesburg, MS, and Elaine Miller (Dana) of Sumter; two daughters, Tiffany Marsh (Kirk) and Diane Sharpe (Ronnie); six grandchildren, including his favorites, Casey Benenhaley and Joshua Marsh; a very special cousin, Burgess Oxendine; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Norma Jean Benenhaley and Theodora “Tippy” Busshart; and a brother, Paul “P.K.” Oxendine.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare for their compassionate care.
