Obituary for Parnell Whiteford Reed

Parnell W. Reed, 87, widower of Modell Gause Reed, died Saturday, October 06, 2018 at his home.

Born, September 12, 1931, in Lake City, he was a son of the late Archie L. Reed, Sr. the late Bertie Sims Reed, and the late Jane Floyd Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a beloved musician. He retired from Santee Print Works, and the City of Sumter. He truly enjoyed his job as a street sweeper operator.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Ardis (Norman) and Wanda Hearrell (Donnie) both of Sumter; two grandchildren, Dustie Hearrell (Billi Jo) and Amanda Hearrell; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton Hearrell, Karolina Hearrell, Richard Newman, Jr., and Aubrey Newman; two brothers, Jack Reed of Kingstree, and Archie Reed, Jr. (Sandi) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Lula Jo Morris, Belva Dean Broach, and Rosalee Reed; and two brothers, Earl Reed, and Don Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Driggers and the Rev. Bill Tschorn officiating.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4220 E. Brewington Rd.
