Edwin Dudley Corning, Jr., 76, husband of Gail Kemmerlin Corning, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Born February 5, 1942, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. McLeod, Jr. and the late Edwin D. Corning, Sr. Mr. Corning was a member of Church of the Holy Comforter. He retired as a Claims Representative with State Farm Insurance Company.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years; two sons, Edwin D. Corning, III (Emily) of Mt. Pleasant, and Shelton Corning of Sumter; three grandchildren, Layla Grace, Josie Mae, and Abigail McKenzie; three brothers, Roland S. Corning and Frank A. McLeod, III (Marguerite) both of Columbia, and John M. G. McLeod (Beth) of Brevard, NC; one sister, Elizabeth M. Britton of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Comforter with The Rev. Marcus A. Kaiser, Sr. and The Very Rev. Charles F. Walton, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the home of his sister, Elizabeth M. Britton, 730 Creekside Drive.
