James Henry Ardis, Sr., 79, husband of Mary Hendrix Ardis, died Sunday, February 25, 2018, at his home.
Born November 9, 1938, in Pinewood, he was a son of the late Lee Willard Ardis and the late Willie Nevlyn Hurst Ardis. He was a member of Pinewood United Methodist Church and retired from Florence Concrete. He was an avid fisherman and fox hunter and was a member of the South Carolina Fox Hunter’s Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife of Pinewood; a son, James Henry Ardis, Jr. of Sumter; two grandchildren, James H. “J.J.” Ardis, III (Katy) and Kattie Ardis Hendrix; two great-grandchildren, Layla Mae Brinson and Harlyn Sue Ardis; and two sisters, Beverly Owens of Moncks Corner and Helen Joy of Bonneau.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Ann Ardis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Services will be private.
