Obituary for Mary Frances Hatfield (Marshall)

Mary Frances Hatfield, 82, wife of Burton M. Hatfield, Sr. died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at her home.

Born September 18, 1935, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Robert Marshall and the late Adelle Huggins Marshall. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and retired from Becton-Dickinson after 21 years of service.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years; two sons, Burton M. “Burt” Hatfield, Jr. (Helen) of Sumter and Barry M. Hatfield (Anita) of Manning; five grandchildren, Burton Hatfield (Katie), Leighann Butler (Tom), Caroline Speer (Tyler), Hayley Hatfield, and Dawson Hatfield; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Ahtonen (Rhonda) and Danny Marshall (Sherry) both of Sumter; a sister, Linda Christmas (Buddy) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at 1200 Kentwood Dr.
