Obituary for Carl Edward Pack

Carl Edward Pack, 73, husband of Eleanor Bartlette Pack, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law.

Born May 8, 1944, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Carl Pack and the late Lottie Brown Pack. Mr. Pack was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God. He was a well-known carpenter in Sumter. He owned and operated Pack’s Painting and Roofing Company and C&E Craft Shop. He raced at the Sumter Speedway for many years with the “Flintstone” car in the Late Model class. Mr. Pack was a member of Sumter Masonic Lodge #364 AFM.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years; two children, Stacey Spears (Tony), and David Pack (Lori); four step-children, Donnie McLeod (Robin), Debbie Osteen (Pistol), Robbie McLeod, and Bennie McLeod; two grandchildren, Jessica Spears, and Lil’ David Pack; seven step-grandchildren, JR Barwick (Sandy), BJ Barwick (Manon), Casey Abrams (Whitt), Alex Ward, Angel McLeod, DJ McLeod, and Chrissy McLeod; twelve step-great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Brown, Betty Watford, Lottie Anderson (Elvis), and Carleen Scott (Melvin); three brothers, Dewey Pack (Jeanne), Robert Pack (Sylvia), and Ben Pack (Debbie); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Alvin DuBose.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Green Acres Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Bowman officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in the Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Pack, Lil’ David Pack, Sean Pack, BJ Barwick, JR Barwick, and Robert Pack.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Spears, Dewey Pack, Ben Pack, and Allen Prather.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 2815 Hathaway Drive.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
