Obituary for Sidney Richard Morris Jr.

Sidney Richard Morris, Jr., 89, husband of the late Louise Kennedy Morris and the late Frances W. Harper Morris, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born January 31, 1929, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Sidney Richard Morris, Sr. and the late Josephine Holladay Morris. He was a charter member and founder of Freedom Worship Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Sumter County Public Works.

Survivors include step-children, Margaret Ashbaugh and Susan Barfield both of Olanta, and Johnny Harper, Jr. of Manning; five grandchildren; a special niece, Rose Morris; caregiver, Randall Welch; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Ralph, David, Margie, Ada Belle, Faye, and Ray; and a step-daughter, Janet Coker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Freedom Worship Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Carl Lavender and the Rev. Clyde Chan officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Freedom Worship Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Freedom Worship Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1490 Florence Hwy., Sumter, SC 29153.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
