Cary Lavern “Caro” Stephens, Sr., 66, husband of Sharon Howle Stephens, died Friday, January 26, 2018, at McCormick Rehab and Healthcare Center in McCormick, SC.

Born September 6, 1951, in Lee County, he was a son of the late Vincent Lee Stephens and the late Bernice Capell Stephens. He was a retired long distance truck driver.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Cary L. Stephens, Jr. of Florence and Tray Stephens (Jessica) of Sumter; a step-son, Joey Howle (Karrie) of Cheraw; 13 grandchildren; a brother, James Caples of Sumter; two sisters, Earliene Tennant (Thomas) of Summerton and Judy Hershberger of Manning; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John “Buck” Stephens and Vincent “Windy” Stephens; and a close friend, Henry Page, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at 3440 Nazarene Church Rd.
