Carolyn Vernell Floyd Lessel, 69, wife of James B. Lessel, died Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Born July 26, 1948, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Don Floyd and the late Frances Maybelle Braxton Floyd. She was a Dental Assistant for over 30 years and was of the Baptist Faith. Vernell was a giver. She touched thousands of people’s lives, never met a stranger and would talk to anyone.
Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Ruby Floyd Garris, Anne Shore, and Charlene Allen; aunts and uncles, Annette and Roe Griffin, Charles Braxton, and Genlon Hanna; and her beloved dogs, Seven and Foxy.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Jimmy Baker, Jr. officiating.
