Jo Ellen Maxson Combs Brooks, 82, widow of Richard T. Combs and Linsay Brooks, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Palmetto Health-Tuomey.

Born in Cumberland, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Maxson and the late Esther Robinson Maxson. Mrs. Brooks was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include one son, Richard Dale Combs (Meng) of San Diego, California; three daughters, Nancy Beben (Leslie), Tammy Stone (Charles), and Kimberly Combs all of Sumter; ten grandchildren, Jeremy Beben (Brenda), Thomas Beben (Monica), Aaron Beben, Matthew Beben, Jade Frilles (Chris), Jasmine Combs, Richard J. Combs, Bryant Stone, Nate Stone (Beth), and Elizabeth Stone; seven great grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Grace, Jaden, Kenji, Huntley and Alex; one aunt, Edna Weisenmiller of Keyser, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Jane Maxson of Rigeley, West Virginia; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 5808 Brookland Drive.
