On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Mrs. Corliss Shaffer “Gram” Barrett, daughter of the late Benjamin and Bernice Jenkins, went to be with Jesus.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Barrett, and her children, Blair (Kimberley) Shaffer, Chris Shaffer, Teriann (Tommy) Nash, Sharon (Brent) Harms, and Kathryn (Jim) Duke. Her grandchildren, Cayce (Trent) Griffin, Brantley Nash, Kaitlan Shaffer, Karleigh Nash, Kristin Shaffer, Kerington Shaffer, McKinlie Nash, Mary Kate Shaffer, Kamryn Shaffer, Morgan Shaffer, Benjamin Shaffer, Taylor Duke, Thomas Nash, and Olivia Nash, as well as her great-grandchildren, Austin Griffin, Hunter Griffin, Reed Anderson, Harleigh Nash, Channing Nash, and Blaize Nash, along with many other “adopted” ones through the years, knew her affectionately as “Gram”. She is also survived by her sister, Sue (Steve) Miller; her brothers, Harry “Butch” Jenkins and Colin “Bugs” Jenkins, her twin; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Shaffer; her brothers, Tommy Jenkins and Steve Jenkins; and a sister, Mary Moore.

Not to be left out are her four-legged “daughters”, Pepper and Patty.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

The memorial service will be held at First Church of God on Friday at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies that met weekly in her home as “quilting friends”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Church of God, 1835 Highway 521 North, Sumter, SC 29153, Breast Cancer Research (as she was a survivor), or the charity of one’s choice.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
