Ina Jeannine Woodhams Pettigrew, 87, wife of Robert Sanders Pettigrew, Jr., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Born September 17, 1929 in Denver, Colorado, she was a daughter of the late George Henry Woodhams and the late Hazel Mercedes Lucas Woodhams. God has called home a cherished wife and mother. She will be eternally missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 70 years; five children, Charline Burger of Dalton, Ga., David Pettigrew (Jenny) of Lexington, N.C., Linda Irick (Phillip) of North Myrtle Beach, Babette Meadows (Thomas) of Sumter, and Brantley Pettigrew of Nipomo, California.; six grandchildren, Christian Amos, Rebecca Rhea, Frances Storey, Lorie Joy, Lee Burger, and Wesley Burger; and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Ashley Pettigrew.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, in Florence, with the Rev. Dr. David E. Richardson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
