Obituary for Edna Watford (Evans)

Edna Evans Watford, 78, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017 at home surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Lucius K. and Dora Hodge Evans. She was a life-long member of Concord Presbyterian Church in Sumter where she served as Secretary, a Sunday School teacher, and was a Choir member. She received a life-long membership of the Presbyterian Women USA. She was the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the Brewington Cemetery Association and retired from Tuomey Hospital after 32 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Fran (Billy) Moore of Olanta, Patti (Mitch) McElveen of Lynchburg; one son, Gregg Watford (Staci Dee) of Turbeville; her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Sara Evans of Currie, NC; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Wright, Chad (Ashleigh) Bartlett, Bernie (Mandy) Moore, Lee (Deidre) Moore, Trisha (Wheeler) McCallum, Laci McElveen, Kelli McElveen, Alan Watford (Taylor Thornhill), Adri (Blake) Johnson, and Alexus Watford (Jake Carter); 11 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and a special care-giver, Mrs. Lynn Weaver.

She was pre-deceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn W. and Willie Bartlett, two sisters, Miriam Jordan Johnson and Carolyn Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Elmore- Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dane Deatherage officiating. Burial will follow in the Brewington Cemetery outside of Manning. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1295 Plowden Mill Road.

Pallbearers will be Bernie Moore, Chad Bartlett, Lee Moore, Alan Watford, David Jordan, and Keith Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Barrineau, Brian Evans, Wheeler McCallum, Jake Carter, Blake Johnson, Andrew Wright, Will Barrineau, Dax Witherspoon, and the Men of Concord Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, 3350 E. Brewington Road, Sumter, SC 29153 or to the Brewington Cemetery Association General Fund, 895 Pleasant Grove Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080.
