Obituary for John David "Johnny" Hudson III

John David “Johnny” Hudson, III, 52, husband of Tricia Rogers Hudson, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at McLeod Health Clarendon in Manning.

Born January 3, 1965, in Sumter, he was a son of the late John David Hudson, Jr. and the late Mildred Bodie Hudson. He was a self-employed contractor, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of Riverside Hunting Club. He was a member of New Start Community Church of the Nazarene where he served as head usher.

Survivors include his wife of Sumter; children, Terry Turner, Michael Turner (Heather), Michael Coulter (Heather), and Matthew Coulter (Claudia) all of Sumter and Michelle Geddings (Tommy) of Wedgefield; nine grandchildren; sisters, Sheri Seruya (Sheldon), Debbie Shumate (Carl), Missy Hudson, Rena Osteen (Mike) and Buffy Laws (Scott) all of Sumter, and Patricia Hayden of Hartsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday at New Start Community Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Geddings Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Clark, Artie McIntosh, Dondi Avins, Scooter Osteen, Robert “Peanut” McDuffie, and Eddie Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Laws, Dusty Laws, Chance Osteen, and Dudley Osteen.

The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon Monday at New Start Community Church of the Nazarene and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
