Obituary for Kathleen "Kat" Ryles (Scott)

Kathleen “Kat” Scott Ryles, 76, widow of Charles Ernest Ryles, Sr., died peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the home of her daughter in North Richland Hills, TX.

Born August 7, 1940, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Clyde Scott, Sr. and the late Fannie Preto Johnson Scott. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Gina Ryles of Charlotte, NC and Kristi Berndt and daughter-in-law, Dawn Berndt of North Richland Hills, TX; a sister, Judy Taylor (Buddy) of Sumter; and a brother, Glen Scott (Carlene) of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. “Chuck” Ryles, Jr.; brothers, O.C. Scott, Jr. and Jerry Scott; and sisters, Frances Ard, Peggy Bean, and Dorothy Ann Kightlinger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens
Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Greg Harvell and Mr. John Benenhaley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chip Taylor, Kirby Brinson, Jordan Brinson, Logan Brinson, Taylor Brinson, and Jimmy Nettles.

Honorary pallbearer will be Riley Nettles.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Buddy and Judy Taylor.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
