Marvin M. Barkley, 78, husband of Alita “Tina” Dubose Barkley, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
Born December 16, 1938, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Relie William Barkley, Sr. and the late Sadie Geddings Barkley. He was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Barkley worked at Gamecock Vending, Bosch Braking Systems, Campbell Soup Company, and was self-employed working with HVAC systems.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years; two sons, Timothy Barkley (Jeanette) of Sumter and Terry Barkley (Rhonda) of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Relie Barkley, Jr., Rudolph Barkley, and Albert Barkley all of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Barkley and S.A. Barkley.
Funeral services will be held at 3 Monday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. F. Arthur Sharpe and the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Nazarene Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael M. Barkley, Michael W. Barkley, Brandon Barkley, Allen Hodge, Randy Barkley, and Franklin Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Calvary Men’s Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
