Obituary for Jack Gainey

Jack  Gainey
Jack Gainey, our beloved, dedicated, forever faithful, loving father, departed this life on Monday, January 30, 2017.

Born November 29, 1930, he was a son of the late Leroy Gainey and the late Amy Hendrix Gainey Kirven. Mr. Gainey was a retired roofing contractor and member of the Church of God for 40 years. His passions were gardening, helping anyone in need, reading and studying God’s word, and spending time with his beloved family.

Mr. Gainey is survived by two sons, Jack Timothy Gainey and Mark Christopher Gainey both of Sumter; three daughters, Belinda Gainey-Vrana of Rock Hill, Deborah Gainey-McTernin (Walter) and Karen Gainey-Buddin (Edward “Bud”) all of Sumter; seven grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Margaret Kirven and Shelby Jean Dollard (Tommy) all of Sumter.

Mr. Gainey was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Mildred Lucille Gainey; a son, Wendell Eric Gainey; a daughter, Pamela Gail Gainey; five brothers, Harvey Gainey, Ervin Gainey, James Gainey, Robert Gainey, and D.L. Gainey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Kerry officiating. Private burial will be in the Gainey Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
