Obituary for George Harry Jackson

George Harry Jackson, 79, husband of Claudette G. Jackson, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Palmetto Health-Tuomey.

Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Broadus Voice Jackson and the late Myrtle Vess Jackson. Mr. Jackson served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he was a civil service firefighter and retired as Fire Chief at Ft. Jackson after 22 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Claremont Lodge No. 64 AFM.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; one son, G. Ronald “Ron” Jackson of Sumter; one daughter, Tonya Jackson Moseley (Britton) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Cameron Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Chappell Moseley, Molly Moseley, and Ryder Jackson; and one sister, Ruth Abraham (Gerald) of Spartanburg.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to Sumter First Church of the Nazarene, 3700 Patriot Pkwy, Sumter, SC 29154.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
