Obituary for Alice Geneva Vining (Burke)
Alice B. Vining, 79, wife of George D. Vining, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Alcolu, she was a daughter of the late Lee H. Burke and the late Mozelle Richburg Burke. She was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and was formerly employed at Becton-Dickinson.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Wanda V. Berry (Gary), George Matt Vining (C. Lynn), and Mark D. Vining (Sandra) all of Sumter; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Hazel B. Ellis, Barbara Ann Barkley, Patsy B. Carraway, Linda B. Broadway, Debbie B. Bramlette, and Gayle B. Lancaster; and a brother, Rev. H. Leroy Burke.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn B. Hinson; and a brother, Herman L. Burke.
A memorial service will be held at 5 P.M. Monday at Open Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Case, the Rev. Brian Magaw, Gary Berry, Jr., and Evangelist Kelly Hudgins officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Open Bible Baptist Church, 180 Old Manning Rd., Sumter, SC 29150.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
